The long-awaited DJI Spotlight for Matrice 200 Series Drones has arrived. The Z15 Gimbal Spotlight is designed from DJI’s Payload SDK (PSDK) program in partnership with Wingsland. The spotlight is fully integrated into a 3-axis stabilized gimbal. The Spotlight features a whopping 10,200 lumen output and can provide light output up to 500 feet in distance. This payload has been designed for public safety, search & rescue, private security, and other mission-critical night operations with the DJI Matrice 200 series. Built on DJI’s PSDK SkyPort, the Spotlight has full, native support with the DJI Pilot App for remote control of the Spotlight from the ground. Three Operating Modes

The Spotlight features three operating modes for different operating needs and conditions that can be controlled from the DJI Pilot App. The three operating modes include Always On, Flashing and SOS.

Air Cooling System & Intelligent Protection

A Spotlight this bright is sure to produce a lot of heat. Wingsland in partnership with DJI have added a built-in forced air cooling system which helps to ensure the Spotlight in operating in or as closed to it’s ideal temperature range by dissipating heat away from the Spotlight’s internal structure. In addition, an intelligent protection system will help prevent overheating by automatically adjusting the Spotlight’s output level when the internal temperature level exceeds 194°F (90°C).

Z15 Gimbal Spotlight Compatibility

The Gimbal Spotlight can be used on Matrice 200 Series V1 and Matrice 200 Series V1 aircraft. The Spotlight can also be used in combination with other payloads being used on the aircraft when using the Dual Downward Gimbal Mount.

APPLICATIONS

Public Safety

The Z15 Spotlight’s 10,200 lumen output along with its small power draw on the aircraft enables public safety UAS users to illuminate a larger area with mission critical light. Some common public safety applications for the Z15 Spotlight by Wingsland include:

Search & Rescue: SAR drones are quickly becoming one of the best assets to locate a lost person in the dark of night. Not only does thermal imaging provide authorities extremely beneficial capabilities, but a search & rescue spotlight for drones can be a real lifesaver.

Law Enforcement & Police: An aerial light source can be a huge asset to units on the ground. Whether police drones are being used for overwatch, routine patrols, investigations, or crowd management, A 10,200 lumen police drone spotlight can help put officers on the ground at ease when they are able to see their surroundings.

Firefighting: Drones in firefighting typically are most beneficial with thermal imagery, however with the Z15 Spotlight nighttime scene operations can easily be illuminated with complete flexibility from the air. In addition, during post fire assessments, a 10,200 lumen light on the subject matter can be incredibly helpful to assess the damage in areas where it may be difficult for a ground unit to reach.

Critical Infrastructure & Facility Repair/Maintenance

When time is of the essence during a critical infrastructure failure such as a power outage, the Z15 can conveniently illuminate power lines and transformers to assist in a quick repair of the affected infrastructure.
